What is eczema ?

Eczema is a  very common disease, and manifests itself in two ways: first of all there is the short term where the disease is most apparent. During the eczema flare ups the child is red, there is oozing on his skin, he itches, and he and his parents suffer from these symptoms. Then there are the periods of remission when the eczema is less apparent and the skin is simply dry. Then we have the long-term perspective: in 80% of cases the skin normalises from the age of 2 years and the flare-ups become rarer and rarer.
