The treatment of atopic dermatitis in Japan is also faced with the problem of therapeutic failure. Patient education, however, is not very developed in Japan, despite certain intiatives (atopy.com). The patient, the doctor, the caregiver, and the disease itself are all factors which influence the weak and insufficient therapeutic adherence. There are practical propositions for improving therapetic adherence such as the PLEASED rule, setting up a written action plan or patient self evaluation tools (PO-SCORAD).

- Meeting report San Francisco April 2009 -


Experts from around the world met in San Francisco during the AAD congress to discuss recent developments and strategies for the OPENED network.

In this respect the OPENED project, which is open to both doctors and patients, reinforces the relationship between these actors by encouraging autonomy and collaboration.
